The history of sellshirts

The story of sellshirts is closely interwindled with the much longer story of streetshirts, which started at humble beginnings, into the joint streetshirts / sellshirts that it is today.

sellshirts was born through the desire to specifically help t-shirt sellers produce their best products and grow their own brands.

Seeds from a long running business

sellshirts started life via its sister brand streetshirts, who has always supported t-shirt sellers throughout the years, although not as their primary audience.

Selling t-shirts, hoodies and apparel directly to the end customer for over 23 years, we have learnt a lot about how to provide an excellent service which will delight your customers.

streetshirts began as a side project by our founder, Steve, who set out to sell a few t-shirts online whilst still a student. Using a free website builder from a computer magazine CD, he launched the very first version of streetshirts, which was quite a bit different from what you can see today, but the start of something bigger.

The first concept for streetshirts was to sell t-shirt designs online and like most t-shirts start-ups the production work was outsourced.

A concept was created

Steve, always having a keen interest in technology, wanted to push this concept further. After a year of selling pre-designed t-shirts he came up with an interesting concept - “what if people could design their own t-shirts” and the basis of streetshirts was born.

After a huge amount of technical development, new tools were developed for adding a design and customising your t-shirt. This attracted t-shirt sellers from the very beginning, who saw the opportunity to develop their custom brand and sell t-shirts online.

This concept proved to be popular with everyone and as sales of t-shirts increased the decision was made to bring the printing production in-house and create a system of t-shirt printing and dispatch.

Steve’s hard work and driving force had created a vision for the company which is held today. His strength of mind and insistence on the highest quality results is the foundation of everything we do today.

Forming the team of today

A few years down the line, Emily, and also future wife to Steve, joined the team. With a strong background in Graphic and Web design, she fitted perfectly into the role of Creative Director and inserted energy and enthusiasm into the visual elements of the company.

In more recent years Kat has joined the team, as an expert in Customer Service and relations, she is the heart of the company and voice of the customer. Her invaluable insight always places the customer as the number one focus of what we do.

Over the years the unstoppable team has developed, expanded and developed the business again. Always looking for new technologies to help the customer create better t-shirts or machinery and systems to produce better prints.

sellshirts - Championing the t-shirt seller

At streetshirts, working for t-shirt sellers has always been at the heart of what we do, which is why in 2025 we decided to create sellshirts as a separate element.

sellshirts truly focuses on the t-shirt seller and exactly what they require in a service. We felt like the seller aspect of streetshirts was too important to be tacked onto the streetshirts service, and that it needed its own place to shine.

Giving sellers the exact tools that they need to grow their business and concentrate on their customers. This is how sellshirts was born, the sister of streetshirts.

Today, we support hundreds of UK t-shirt brands with fast, integrated print-on-demand fulfillment. Trusted by creators on Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce and many more.

We also provide a marketplace for individuals to sell without needing to set up an e-commerce website. So allowing people to get started with us from absolute zero.
